Chris
was born and educated in country South Australia and later,
Adelaide, where he studied international relations and modern
history. As a student he worked in his parents' small business.
Since moving to Queensland 5 years ago he has been working
across regional areas as a training manager and now works
with an airline managing their domestic and international
cargo division.
Chris
is new to the Australian Democrats having joined this year
and, after seeing the impact of an unchecked and unprecedented
abuse of power with the coalition controlling both houses
of parliament, decided that the best way to provide a positive
influence was to get involved and run for a seat in the
House of Representatives.
Chris
has been heavily involved in several football clubs for
over 10 years in playing, and administrative roles and from
this has come to appreciate the importance and benefit community
groups and organisations have, especially in bringing together
people within regional areas.
Having worked with primary producers in the domestic and
international trade industry Chris understands the issues
facing the Dawson region and believes that with balanced,
proactive and far sighted policies we can both responsibly
manage our environment while giving industries such as the
sugar cane and tourism sectors a prosperous future, not
just over the next election term, but for many years to
come.
"The Democrats are the only party who hold a sensible,
compassionate and pro-active approach to debate and policy
making above all other considerations without being beholden
to a single interest group. We now have an opportunity to
again restore the balance to a political landscape that
is in dire need of informed and accountable government."
"This
election is of vital importance, we risk a senate dominated
by the major parties or with extremists such as Pauline
Hanson holding the balance of power."
"I
urge you to consider the outstanding record of Democrats
and to vote to retain Andrew Bartlett as the only genuinely
independent Queensland voice in the Senate and for myself
in the House of Representatives."
